Blown-in insulation is a loose-fill product that is installed with a blower machine. This type of insulation can be beneficial for small attics which do not have enough room for a technician to climb inside of and install batt insulation. Instead, blown-in insulation only needs a small access point and can be blown in with a machine.
Another amazing benefit of loose-fill insulation is that it can be installed in already existing walls, which is called retrofitting. A small hole is drilled into the wall one foot below the ceiling and another one yard above the floor. The insulation is then blown in, covering the entire inside area of the wall. Once finished, a plastic cap is put over the hole and the area is skim-coated and painted to match the wall.
Blown-in insulation is available in rockwool, fiberglass and cellulose. Rockwool is the recreation of a naturally occurring material found in Hawaii. The material was found next to volcanos after an eruption since the high winds would blow the molten rock, forming thin rock strings which were then discovered hanging on the nearby trees.
Rockwool insulation is produced liquifying rocks at high temperatures and spinning the liquid at a high speed to form thin fiber strings. This form of insulation boats an R-Value of 3.0-R to 3.3-R per inch.
Rockwool insulation has many important benefits like preventing fire, as the product is non-combustible and made out of rock. This product is extremely effective as a noise barrier, which muffles and absorbs sound waves. Rockwool can be installed as a blown-in loose-fill or in batts.

The Blown-In Blanket (BIBS) system method of insulation keeps loose-fill insulation firmly in place between wall studs with a mesh netting. The netting is nailed into the studs and small holes are made in the netting.
The insulation blower is inserted through the netting holes and blows the loose-fill behind the netting, perfectly insulating around ductwork, pipes, and electrical boxes without any air pockets.
One important benefit of blown-in blanket systems is that the insulation is firmly packed in place, without the ability to settle over time or form air gaps. This method of insulation is highly effective for sound dampening, preventing mold, pests, drafts, pollens, and moisture.

This mold resistant spray boats an R-Value of R-3.733 per inch and is created from recycled materials. Sonoglass is rated flame-spread 0, non-combustible, available in various colors and adheres to almost all surface types.
Monoglass insulation spay is effective for application in difficult to reach areas and is created from a mixture of soft glass fibers and polymers. The spray can be applied 7 inches thick on vertical surfaces and 5 inches thick on horizontal surfaces.
An amazing benefit of monoglass spray is that it adheres to almost any surface such as glass, concrete, gypsum, wood, fireproofing, steel and more. Vertical spray applications have an R-Value of R-28 and overhead applications have an R-Value of R-20.
One important quality of monoglass insulation is that it is mold resistant and is an effective in insulation for indoor pools or areas with high humidity. The spray offers high R-Values while also reducing noise levels. Monoglass spray can be applied in one swipe and expands to the desired size without need for any additional layers. When being applied to fireproofing, the fire ratings do not change as monoglass is non-combustible.
Monoglass spray is non-combustible, non-toxic, flame spread 0 and smoke development 0. It boasts a Noise Reduction Coefficent of .95, meaning that 95% of sound waves are absorbed, while the last 5% are deflected. Created from partially recycled materials, monoglass can be considered a green form of insulation.
